The NLnet Foundation is accepting applications for financial support for projects focused on the development of open technologies. The next application deadline is 3 November 2026 at 12:00 CET (noon).
The foundation operates several funding programmes with different themes and eligibility requirements, primarily supporting technical development. Funded software, hardware and content must be released under open licences, and the use of open standards is encouraged.
According to the foundation's policy, projects and proposals generated by artificial intelligence are not eligible for funding. Projects applying to EU-supported funds are also expected to demonstrate a strong European dimension, with applicants generally based in countries eligible for Horizon Europe.
